5 Surprising facts about coffee

Coffee, coffee, coffee. Mornings would never be the same without it and it's hard to imagine getting through the day without a cup. Even though we think we are complete experts when it comes to coffee, there are actually surprising facts about it you probably didn't know! So why don't you grab a cup and enjoy while you get your mind blown.


1. THE LETHAL DOSE OF CAFFEINE IS ROUGHLY 100 CUPS OF COFFEE.


Sorry to break it to you but studies have shown that there is in fact such a thing as a "coffee overdose". Don't you worry though! To actually die from coffee you have to drink all that coffee at once which is practically impossible since you wouldn't be able to fit that much in your stomach. Plus, after some cups you would start experiencing hallucinations. Suddenly 4 cups of coffee a day doesn't seem like all that much!


2. COFFEE IS A RED BERRY BEFORE IT'S A BEAN.



So you actually thought coffee was always a bean? Yeah...me too. Well it seems like coffee is a berry that crows on trees! To make this even more interesting, coffee is the #1 most valuable and widely traded commodity crop in the world! Seems like we humans love our coffee!


3. BLACK IVORY COFFEE IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE KIND OF COFFEE ON EARTH AND IT'S MADE FROM...POOP!


This must be the most disgusting fact on this list. Elephants actually consume coffee beans and are after collected from their feces. Black Ivory coffee has been described as "very smooth without the bitterness of regular coffee". If you would like to taste this interesting coffee then you are looking about $50 per cup! 


4. DRINKING COFFEE CAN HELP YOU BURN FAT!




Interestingly enough studies have shown that coffee and specifically caffeine can actually help you loose weight or at least prevent you from gaining any! It can increase your metabolism anywhere from 3-11% and it's one of the very few chemicals that can help with burning fat. Better drink up people!



5. COFFEE CAN HELP PREVENT ALZHEIMER'S AND DEMENTIA.




Apparently scientists have been very interested in coffee because an other study has shown that people who drink coffee are up to 65% less likely to suffer from  Alzheimer's disease. Also it's suggested that caffeine could be an effective therapeutic against the disease.
